I would say yes. Tell him there will be no Christmas this year as well.

Toby that may be a bit over the top, especially selling his inhaler. Boy sounds like you don’t put up with too much sh*t from this kid and are a tough parent. Hope that you are not training him to be a poor parent when he gets older also. Why not have a good talk with him and explain how expensive these things are and that he needs to show some respect for these items or you will take them away until he can learn to care for them properly. To show him how childish you too can act is not showing him a very good example in my old eyes.

    Stupid man!

Yes, you surely did. And the lesson you taught him was that anything he leaves around the house his parent will steal, pawn or trash and make him pay for.
If you can’t leave valuables around the house where can you leave them?

Are you serious ? Since you are the parent why do you feel that you had to go through all of this unnecessary B.S.
If he was leaving his things lay around while he was at school why didn’t you just go into his room take the things and put them under lock and key and tell him that he will not get them back until you feel that he has learned a lesson ?
And you took his inhaler ? Come on !! The inhaler is for when he has an asthma attack , right ? Why would you take a medication that he needs ?
And instead of making him dip into his college fund why didn’t you make him get a job ? That would have made him learn a lesson faster than just going to the bank to withdraw money . He would have actually had to work to get the money .
Sounds to me like you went waaaaay over board on this one .

    Holy crap, a red neck.
You did say he was your son, I take it you purchased the valuables. Do you not have the balls to show him you are going to confiscate his/your valuables.

Wha- YOU SMASHED HIS WINDOW?!?! What the hell?!?!? That’s HORRIBLE!! He’s 11! Jeez, that probably SCARED him! You know what happens to the relationship between a child and his parent when the parent SCARES THE HELL out of the kid? When the kid grows up, the kid doesn’t want any contact with you and tries to stay away from you. Might even need a psychiatrist! I’m not close with my dad for that reason!
You did NOT handle this situation well. You took his INHALER? What if he has an asthma attack?! You do not take away medical care from a child! And then you ruined his future by taking away money from his college bank account?! That’s RIDICULOUS!
A better way to handle the situation would be to ground him! Take away his Xbox and his ipod and lock it in a place where he can’t get it and keep it away from him for a whole week. Then you started breaking stuff around the house? JEEZ, do you have anger problems?!
    You disgust me.
