if there is any sharp edges protruding where someone could hurt them selves then it is redeemed unfit for the road. You might get away with taping up or removing the glass from the headlight
yes still legal but is very dangerous coz if you have another accident god forbid the car is damaged so it wont take a big impact n you cld be injured depends on how much u value ur life
Bumps and dents are not a problem but things like your lights not functioning could get you a fixed penalty notice from the police if they catch you driving it. Driving it around (as long as the police don’t stop you) will not be the crime of the century and if its only for a day you will probably be OK, i would probably risk it in your position.
If a headlight is smashed it is illegal to drive at night, whether it is taped & covered or not.
The other parts should be ok for a day.
We had a van at work that the headlight was smashed and the insurance company told us it was illegal to drive at night. Day time ok but it has to be covered with plastic cover etc …
Take it to a lube shop and ask for a state safety inspection.
It’ll cost you $40.
Or you can ask an officer to look it over and see if he thinks there are any reasons it shouldn’t be on the road.
Strictly speaking according to the letter of the Law – No.
This is due mainly to the Headlight damage – which has compromised a basic Highway Code requirement. (Obviously this is more serious at Night –
Secondly you have caused the Vehicle to become more dangerous to Pedestrians especially – due to the crumpled bodywork which is likely to cause a more serious injury than would otherwise be the case irrespective of the circumstances or the speed involved.
In real life I doubt if you would receive more than a telling off if pulled by the Law – (assuming you really do intend to get it fixed within a reasonable time.)
If the light is damaged it is not roadworthy and you could be stopped and fined. If you injure someone with it you may find your insiurance company invalidates your cover. If it is only 1 day, make a different arrangement. You know how it woudl be – you drive it and either scrape someone or get stopped. Not worth the risk.
put on some shorts and lie on the bonnet with your legs on the floor[nothing dirty]
now scrape your legs from oneside to the other….
scratches?cuts?,a bit blood?….
thats why it UNROADWORTHY….

With bits tied on and a faulty headlamp I would say it’s not roadworthy.

You must have working lights and no dangerous edges. Also, no parts should be able to fall off.

Hard Luck – Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
