i honstely think that you guys should sue the neighbors for what they did. i mean sue also for every penny that they have. its not your fault. you should not get in trouble for what they did.
It will depend on if they purchased the insurance through the company. If they did, then Budget will cover the damages. If for some reason they did not purchase that insurance, I would ask them to file with their private insurance. Some companies, will cover this type of risk. Either way, they are responsible.
The driver of the rental truck, and the owner both have liability in this case. contact the truck rental company tomorrow morning and report the situation to them. The rental car, and all other expenses (towing, repairs) should all be covered. You do not care who pays, let them fight it out themselves, you just want to have the car fixed and expenses paid!
make budget pay or make neighbors pay or make the driver pay!
You ever was at fault should be paying. It is not responsibility of rental company but is responsibility of person who rented the vehicle.
