Sony, never ever replaced a PS3 sent in for repairs. If it is under waranrty, they will replace it with refurbished unit (not brand new), but if it is out of warranty, they will only repair it and most of the time takes longer than in-warranty.

Well instead of paying the 150 dollars to get it fixed why not just try to get the new PS3 Slim for 300$.

But if you dont want to do that, you could try to take to a pawn shop or Game Stop and trade it in for points and then use those points to help get a new PS3 Slim for 300$.

But yes, if you send in your PS3 they will probably be able to either repair it by updating it again to fix it, or to un-do the update.

But I would just rather buy a new one, cause who knows how long that one will last even when it does get fixed, cause you said your brother has anger problems.

    Up to you though.
